Grande Monstrance Reliquaire De Saint Octave – Circa 1800

En bois doré et sculpté, notre grande monstrance tripode repose sur des pâtes de lion surmontées d’un ange central joliment ailé. Trois reliques ex-ossibus composées d’un fragment d’occiput et de deux vertèbres de Saint Octave rayonnent bien au-delà du centre de notre monstrance où elles ont été placées.
Pour ceux qui y sont sensibles, la charge sacrale de ce reliquaire est forte.

Saint Octave, soldat romain Martyr en 297 est un des patrons de laville de Turin.Six autres Saints Martyrs des premiers siècles accompagnent notre relique notable, à savoir les Saints Floridi, Fructuosa, Columbae, Exuperanti,Gunigunda et Lustini.
Au dos, traces de la présence de plusieurs sceaux épiscopaux de cire.
Un travail de la fin du XVIIIe ou du début XIX, de l’Italie du nord.
Dimensions de 103 cm sur 35 de large et 11 cm de profondeur.
Bel état - pied rapporté et ensemble redoré.

Made of gilded and carved wood, our large tripod monstrance rests on lion pates topped by a beautifully winged central angel. Three ex-ossibus relics composed of a fragment of the occiput and two vertebrae of Saint Octavian radiate well beyond the center of our monstrance where they have been placed.
For those who are sensitive to it, the sacral charge of this reliquary is strong. Saint Octavian, a Roman soldier martyred in 297, is one of the patron saints of the city of Turin. Six other Martyr Saints from the first centuries accompany our notable relic, namely Saints Floridi, Fructuosa, Columbae, Exuperanti, Gunigunda, and Lustini. On the back, traces of the presence of several episcopal wax seals. A work from the late 18th or early 19th century, from northern Italy.
