Reliquaire Italien De Saint Maur – XVIIIe

Notre monstrance en bois sculpté et doré, accueille en son centre une relique ex-ossibus de la jambe de Saint Maur, Martyr. Il est un Saint Romain, persécuté au IIIe siècle par Dioclétien. Au dos un sceau épiscopal garantit la qualité de la relique honorée.

Le reliquaire repose sur deux étonnant lions vénitiens, en bois doré et positionnés en miroir. Grande expression avec leurs gueules ouvertes. Dans l’iconographie chrétienne, les lions peuvent symboliser la force de la foi et la protection divine. Placés à la base de notre reliquaire, outre la signature géographiques, ils renforcent le caractère sacré de la pièce.
Un travail Italien de la fin du XVIIe ou du début XVIIIe à la présentation originale.
