Buste Reliquaire D’un Souverain Pontife – XVIIe – Vendu

Notre buste est en bois sculpté ronde-bosse, doré et polychromé. Il repose sur un ange posé sur une terrasse et reçoit en son centre une importante niche qui accueillait autrefois de Saintes reliques.
On appréciera le travail réalisé sur la tiare pontificale reconnaissable aux trois couronnes ainsi que la précision du drapé. Possiblement une représentation d’Urbain VIII qui fut pape de 1623 à 1644.
Un travail Italien de la fin du XVIIe ou du début XVIIIe.
Etat d’usage - manques à la polychromie et à la dorure.
Dimensions de 69 cm de haut, sur 37 de large et 15 cm de profondeur.

Our bust is made of carved wood in the round, gilded and polychromed. It rests on an angel placed on a terrace and receives in its center a large niche which once housed Holy relics. We will appreciate the work done on the pontifical tiara recognizable by the three crowns as well as the precision of the drapery.
Possibly a representation of Urban VIII who was pope from 1623 to 1644.
An Italian work from the end of the 17th or the beginning of the 18th century. Used condition - lacks to the polychromy and gilding.
