Monstrance Reliquaire – Circa 1700

En bronze argenté, notre antique monstrance repose sur un piètement circulaire à décor gravé du Saint Suaire et des instruments de la Passion.
Le nœud ovoïde est orné de végétaux.  La coupe est surmontée d’un baldaquin à colonnettes cannelées supportées par des anges et au-dessus desquelles sont quatre Saints personnages.
La coupole du dais est sommée d’une représentation éthérée du Christ.
Un fin travail, probablement allemand de la fin du XVIIe ou du tout début XVIIIe siècle.
Dimensions de 37 cm sur 12 cm de diamètre, une intéressante symbolique cachée car le 37 en gématrie est le chiffre de la Sagesse et le 12 nous renvoie à l’ancien testament comme à la nouvelle Alliance.

In silver-plated bronze, our antique monstrance rests on a circular base with engraved decoration of the Holy Shroud and the instruments of the Passion. The ovoid knot is decorated with plants. The cup is surmounted by a canopy with fluted columns supported by angels and above which are holy figures.
The dome of the canopy is topped with an ethereal representation of Christ. A fine work, probably German from the end of the 17th or the very beginning of the 18th century.
Dimensions of 37 cm by 12 cm in diameter, an interesting hidden symbolism because the 37 in gematria is the number of Wisdom and the 12 refers us to the Old Testament as well as the New.
